Breast Augmentation

Definition - What does Breast Augmentation mean?

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that restores the shape or enhances the size of the breasts using saline implants, silicone implants or fat transfer. Patients who choose breast augmentation have several choices when it comes to implant type, texture, placement and incision site. Breast augmentation is considered a long-term solution for achieving breast enlargement.

TheConsultation explains Breast Augmentation

There are many reasons why an individual may opt for breast augmentation. Pregnancy, weight loss, unevenness or general dissatisfaction with shape or size of the breasts are the most common reasons for this procedure. For operations that involve implants, the surgeon will create an incision, lifts the breast tissue, and situate the implant in a pocket created in the chest. When fat transfer is selected, the surgeon removes fat (typically from the thigh or abdomen) via liposuction. The fat is then processed and injected back into the breasts.
